Technical Studies:
Exchange work experience in this field for credits toward an Associate's Degree. This program is desiged to meet the specific educational needs of students, businesses and industry. The Technical Studies Associate of Applied Science degree is a customized program drawing from existing course offerings. The degree will allow students to combine skills and knowledge from different disciplines, enabling the graduate to met a specific job opportunity.

1. How do I enroll in Western Iowa Tech Community College?
You can either apply on an application for admission, or print out the application form at: http://www.witcc.edu.

2. How do I meet the 43-hour technical requirement?
Your transcript(s) and portfolio of documented work experience training will be examined. To apply work experience toward the degree, forms must be completed listing the student information and payment made to the college in the form of $20 per credit hour to be converted. Proof of successful completion of training or certification is required.

3. What courses do I still need to take?
You need a minimum of 15 semester credits from the college which can be fulfilled by the six areas of general education. The college has the requirement that you take at least one course out of five of the six areas. Check with your program advisor for details on technical courses.

4. How do I know which courses are available?
The entire list of courses is available online at: http://www.witcc.edu/future_students/. You can search for specific classes or view the online courses at: http:/www.witcc.edu/online/online_credit.cfm.

5. I have identified some courses that I wish to take - now what?
About 24 hours after your application to the college is received, you can register online, or over the telephone with a registration aide. Their phone number is: 712-274-6404.

6. I have completed my required classes and . . .?
Prior ro completing your final class, you should be sent an email encouraging students to apply for graduation. There is no requirement that you attend graduation, however if you don't apply, no degree is printed. You must also make sure that your technical credits have been applied (see step 2).
